epiloguewhen their story ends

The hallways of Aobajosai Highschool were quiet. Today, was the day when the next Game Of Love would commence. It was strange. Just a few months ago, this phenomena was the biggest buzz of the month which had most of the students gittering in excitement. However, ever since their game had begun, and the results had been conveyed, the hype surrounding the monthly event had began to die. The hallways were no longer filled with excited female students squealing and giggling, hoping they would be the chosen participant who, by the end of the game, would end up in a relationship with The Grand King. Or, excited males who were too shy to convey their passion for the game, and wished to be the ones to melt the coldness of The Ice Queen.

Now, it was basic news known to everyone in Aobajosai that Oikawa Tooru, and [Name] Surname] were in a disgustingly sweet and cheesy relationship. And every time someone observed them when they were together, they claimed to have seen literal hearts, flowers, and bubbles floating around them. The fact that they were absolutely enthralled and in love with each other, could not have been more obvious.

Seriously, people wondered, what kind of game did they play to be THAT in love?! Last time they checked, the two were at each other’s throats, always making a show and insulting each other.

They really wondered what had happened.

Oh, if only the NPCs in this story could have experienced the drama between them the way you guys did~ ;D

“The author is breaking the fourth wall again,” Oikawa began, as he intertwined his fingers with [Name], and pulled her closer to his side, smiling at her. At this, a small blush blossomed on [Name]’s cheeks, before she scoffed.

“She’s always doing that,” [Name] replied, and rolled her eyes, before she shifted her gaze to Oikawa.

“Yeah. Anyway, how is your sister holding up?” Oikawa inquired, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.

[Name]’s shoulders tensed slightly, before she forced herself to relax. She stared at Oikawa for a few moments and then bit her lip,  before she nodded at him.

“She’s doing good. Recovering better and faster than they expected. I’m glad. Her colour and life are finally beginning to return to her face,” [Name] answered, as her lips formed in a soft smile at the thought of Miho.

“Hmmm,” Oikawa said, as his gaze shifted from [Name], to the road ahead of them.

It was chilly, and the road was quiet. There were a few shops, and a few other people who walked on the footpath beside the road. But no one that Oikawa and [Name] knew, or were acquainted with, was there. That was a given, seeing as the young couple had decided to take the long way to their school.

After all, through this route, their favourite field of hydrangeas flowers was on their way to the school.

“I’m glad,” Oikawa said, as his eyes flickered to [Name]. He began to rub circles on the back of her hand with his thumb.

“I just wish you had told me the truth sooner, [Name]. I love you, so I want to be there for you when you need it. I want to support you,” Oikawa said, tightening his grip around [Name]’s hand. Her eyes widened as a bubble of guilt started to form in her chest. She glanced down at her feet with a slight frown on her face.

“But you were there for me when I needed it the most,” [Name] whispered, as she refused to look at Oikawa.

The brunet stared at her for a few moments before he pouted.

“I want to be there for you all the time! You should be more honest with me, and not be afraid to rely on me. I want to be a good lover to you! I mean, I am already perfect but---” Oikawa began, and dramatically turned towards her. However, before he could finish speaking, he was cut off by [Name], who scoffed at his never-ceasing narcissism.

“Perfect piece of trash you mean,” [Name] remarked, smirking.

At her bluntness, Oikawa gasped, offended.

“Eh, [Name]-chan! That was really rude!” He exclaimed, as he grabbed her cheek, and pulled on it, making her cry out in protest.

[Name] tried to swat his hand away from her cheek, and tried pinching him hand, but the brunet simply grinned sadistically, and continued to gently pull on her cheek.

When he eventually released his hold on her, [Name] was instantly at him, and for rest of the way, the two of them fought and argued their way to the school.

It was late into the evening, with dusk embarking on the horizons. The sky was a hue of light blue which was morphing into grey. Additionally, grey clouds were suspended in the sky. In between the spaces of the clouds, the sunset colours of yellow, orange, pink, and violet, were peeking through.

In a hospital, Miho was being operated on. Outside her operation room, [Name] and Oikawa sat on the waiting seats, with a blanket of utter silence surrounding them. [Name]’s leg was shaking, and she was tightly clenching her hands together. Oikawa, who had decided to accompany her for support, observed her from the corner of his eyes.

[Name] was a mess of nerves and anxiety. Since Oikawa was not accumtomsed to seeing her that way, a frown was evident on his face. Eventually, when [Name]’s trembling would not cease, he gently unwinded her hands, and grabbed the closest to him, in his hand. He intertwined their fingers together, and softly, yet firmly, gripped it. His lips were pressed in a tight smile.

“It’ll be okay. She’s going to be fine,” He assured, with nothing but seriousness in his eyes.

[Name]’s eyes widened slightly, and a small blush appeared on her cheeks. Then, she returned Oikawa’s comforting gesture, by tightening her grip on his hand.

“Thank you,” She said, giving him a small, gentle smile.

When she had smiled, Oikawa’s heartbeat had began to speed up. Red was blooming on the tip of his ears, and instantly, he turned his face away from her. Oikawa gave no verbal response to [Name]. Instead, he adjusted her hand in his so they would fit together better, and began to rub circles on the back of her hand.

For a few moments, they sat in silence, savouring the much needed peace around them. However, like the circle of life where each beginning has its ending, so did their comforting silence.

Oikawa’s gaze flickered to [Name], and he gulped. Ever so slightly, he tightened his grip on her hand, which caused her to turn towards him.

She blinked, and raised an eyebrow in question.

“So, I, um,” Oikawa began awkwardly, as he gave her a very strange smile. [Name] blinked in confusion as she was having a very difficult time in deciphering his smile.

“What?” [Name] asked, when he did not continue with what he was going to say.

Oikawa flinched, before he opened his mouth to speak.

“I know this is not an appropriate time, but after Miho is out, and everything is settled, w-will--” Oikawa began nervously, but he was cut off by [Name], who grinned at him.

“Yes,” She said simply, smiling. Her smile turned into a half smirk when she noticed the perplexed expression that Oikawa wore.

He looked like a surprised goldfish. However, moments later, Oikawa returned to his senses, and then childishly, huffed, and pouted at [Name].

“You don’t even know what I was going to say! Don’t just say ‘yes’ to anything!” He exclaimed, pinching [Name]’s cheek.

The [h/c] female yelped as she swatted his hand away. Then, she rubbed the sore spot on her cheek, and scowled at him.

“You were going to ask me to be your girlfriend. It was obvious,” [Name] remarked snarkily, glaring at him.

Oikawa’s eyebrow twitched as he softly pinched [Name]’s cheek once again.

“OW! Stop that Trashykawa!” [Name] exclaimed, punching him in the shoulder. However, due to his athletic built, her hit had no effect on him. Instead, it was [Name] who had suddenly pulled her hand out of Oikawa’s hand. This was so she could hold onto the hand she had punched with, which was now very sore.

“Ouch… That was not suppose to happen,” She muttered, rubbing circles on her knuckles to soothe the pain.

Oikawa merely grinned, before he leaned forward, so his mouth was directly beside [Name]’s ear. He breathed on it, causing goosebumps to arise on her skin, and a blush to adorn her cheeks.

“I was going to ask, will you sleep with me?” Oikawa whispered huskily, causing [Name]’s eyes to widen. Her reaction was instant.

“OW! [nAME], that hurts!” Oikawa cried, as she had smacked the back of his head really harshly.

“Don’t push it!” [Name] snapped, and embarrassment overwhelmed her.

Oikawa whimpered, before once again, he pouted.

“I just wanted to have sleepover! I didn’t mean anything by it! Unless--” He said, trailing off, and his eyes widened in realization.

Oikawa grinned.

“[Name], are you a henta--”

“I SAID DON’T PUSH IT!” [Name] yelled, as she mindlessly punched him in the arm again.

And just like before, it did nothing to Oikawa. It was only painful for her.

“Ow.”

***

It was break time, and Iwaizumi, Oikawa, and [Name], were sat with their desks together, eating their lunches in a comfortable silence. Occasionally, someone they knew would walk past the classroom they were in. They would stick their head inside the room for a mere few seconds, and greet them.

The brunet glanced over [Name]’s shoulders to see what was so distracting on her phone, that she was not paying attention to him. In one hand, she held a small milk carton, and she mindlessly drank from it. In the other hand, she held her phone, and constantly wrote something with her thumb.

He pouted.

Iwaizumi, who was sitting in front of him, and was chewing on his food with a mouth full, felt his eyebrow twitch.

He just knew. It was only a matter of minutes before Oikawa was going to piss someone off.

“[Name]-chan~,” Oikawa whined, as he threw his head on her shoulder. “I’m bored! Pay attention to me!” He demanded childishly, as he flicked her hair.

Purposely, [Name] slurped on her milk a little louder than necessary. She spared Oikawa a glance from the corner of her eyes, before averting her attention to Iwaizumi.

“They’re looking for a new student council president,” She said, as she halted from her drinking.

“Are you going to apply for it?” Iwaizumi asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Nope, I already have too much on my plate. Besides, I need a break from responsibilities and drama... Although, in saying so, I will never get a break from those things because of this one,” [Name] said, poking Oikawa.

He groaned as he tried to swat her hand away from him.

“Stop bullying me!” He remarked, as he yelped due to [Name]’s poking.

She wore the expression of the devil; satanic and an evil smirk.

“I’m not bullying you. Isn’t this what you wanted? Me paying attention to you?” [Name] sassed, increasing the pace of her pokes.

This caused the two to break out in an argument, and Iwaizumi could not do anything except watch them act like a bunch of five year olds. His eyebrow twitched in annoyance at their behaviour, and in realization that now, he had two children to look after.

“I heard Eri’s getting counselling,” He said suddenly, which caused the two young lovers to halt mid-argument.

[Name] raised an eyebrow.

“You’re helping her Hajime?” [Name] asked, tilting her head.

In nervousness, sweat began to form on Iwaizumi’s forehead, and his fingers twitched. However, despite his nervousness, his answer was honest and straightforward.

“Yeah,” He said simply.

In response, Oikawa hummed, and [Name] nodded.

“That’s nice of you,”  [Name] said, smiling at him.

“Yeah,” Iwaizumi responded, before their conversation came to an end. Not wanting to wait around for the awkward silence to kick in, he decided to excuse himself.

“I need to talk to Mikoto-sensei. See you later,” He said, as he crunched up the wrapper of his riceball, and stood up. Then, without waiting for a response, he walked out, throwing his rubbish in the bin as did so.

Oikawa and [Name] had said a series of “see you,” and “alright” as he left.

Now, it was just the two of them.

With a sly smile on his lips, Oikawa leaned towards [Name].

“So, Miss. Ice Queen,” He began, as he grabbed a lock of her hair, and twirled it around his finger.

“Where would you like to go for our first date?” Oikawa asked, grinning.

[Name] returned his smile.

“Hmmmm,” She started, pretending to contemplate about it.

“Surprise me, my Grand King,” She said, as her grabbed Tooru’s tie, and pulled him close to her.

With their eyes closed, their lips connected in a blissful kiss that expressed their love for one another.

Hi guys :) I just wanted to say that with a little over two long years, this story has finally come to an end. Writing this story, I went through a lot of ups and downs. I love it, but I hate it because it's such a soap opera at times lol. But, I always wanted to write a really cliche romantic story with complicated love triangles and the bitchy love rival, and the best friend love rival too. So, that wish has been fulfilled. And like how soap operas go on and on, this is ironically my longest story lol. And I wasn’t the best with the updates, sometimes I took months to write for it. With school and life getting in the way, along with me cringing at everything I had in store lol. Thank you for all your support, even though over the last few updates, that support has died A LOT. It’s my fault really, I was horrible with updating this. I still am with my other stories lol. So that’s a goal for this year! Focus on few stories and update them regularly. But we did get there, and we did reach the end.

Although the main story is completed, I have a lot of bonus chapters planned. Character interactions, character’s emotions and thoughts exploration that is still needed to be written for this story to be completely finished. So those are definitely a thing for the future! I’m excited to write them ^^

But in the end, let me know what you thought! Honestly, although I’m very proud of this story, because its so long, and I worked so hard on it, I think overtime it just went downhill. I lost my connection with it, so a lot of the time, I wrote it for the sake of getting it done. But, there were parts where I fell in love with it all over again >< IM CONFUSED AHH!! See?! Love-hate relationship! Hence, please share your thoughts! Feedback means a lot to me :’)

Anywayyyyy, here’s a trivia and a some fun facts about this story!

Trivia;

  • I planned this entire story in the time of three days. I wrote for endless hours in those three days.

  • The entire story plan is  tilted ‘TGOL [Plot Planning]’ in my documents is eleven & ½ pages long.

  • Initially, [Name] was suppose to pass away in the end of the story, and donate a part of her body to help Miho live. But I decided that that’s just being a shitty author, and poorly written plot. So, I made into a happy ending instead! And I thought, if I’ll be writing a 100+ pages story, might as well make it a good ending.

  • It’s not confirmed what sort of liver disease Miho suffered with. I did tons of research and apparently according to google, if a person donates a part of their liver, then as long as they live a healthy lifestyle, they can continue to live.

  • [Name] was suppose to think she will die after her lung transfer. But that was just my 16 year old being a being a dumbass. So I did not add that point in the story in Chapter 19, where it is supposed to end with her saying “I am not going to live.”

  • I was really close to making Iwaizumi be in love with Oikawa instead of [Name] LOL

  • The prologue and the epilogue are linked. Notice, in the prologue, Oikawa’s last said words are “Ice Queen.” In the epilogue, [Name]’s last said words are “Grand King.”

  • This is a reader-insert. But, a lot of time, whenever I wrote [Name]’s dialogues, or anything related to her character, I had a certain, very clear visualization of her mind. That visual was of Shimizu LMAO

  • There’s supposed to be a depressing part about how [Name] was a loner, and she shares her backstory with Oikawa who comforts her about it. Like she was bullied etc. But I couldn’t find anywhere where that scene would fit. And it was way too cheesy for my liking, so I discarded that idea.

  • I also thought that instead of liver, it could be kidney disease. That way, [Name] could survive on one kidney or some sort of explanation like that. But I discarded that idea too since I knew it would require a lot of effort to write, and it just wouldn’t be executed well.

  • The idea of Iwaizumi being the love rival was a very last minute thing my mind conjured up when I needed to introduce a love rival.

  • Eri debuts in Chapter 7. EXACTLY, as I planned. But she’s mentioned beforehand in Chapter 3.

  • Eri means ‘blessed prize’ (according to my notes lol)

  • I tried to make this story as cheesy and cliche as possible, and I succeeded. My dude, I cringe whenever I had to write a new chapter, so I succeeded.

  • There’s a certain order to the chapters. Odd number chapters have their semi-colon bolded. Even numbered chapters’ semi-colons are not bolded.
